Wolfman's Twins Vintage Heroes Wantlists

VINTAGE TWINS HEROES WANTLIST

Below is a list of cards needed to fulfill my Minnesota Twins Vintage Heroes collection.  My definition of a "vintage" player is any player who's rookie year in the major leagues was prior to 1980.  Some of the players in this collection were superstars while others were just characters of the game.  Some of these players spent their entire time with the Minnesota Twins while others had very short stints with the team.  That is what makes baseball and collecting baseball cards so enjoyable!

THE BIG THREE...

ROD CAREW - I personally share the birthday of Rod Carew (day-not year), one of the best hitters in the major leagues in the late 60's, 70's, and 80's.  His career spanned from 1967 to 1985 and in that time won 7 AL batting titles and appeared in 18 straight All-Star games.  Hall of Fame inductee:  1991.

Complete - However, I would be happy to accept any of his cards in NM-Mint condition to upgrade the ones that I have.

HARMON KILLEBREW - One of the most prolific home run hitters of the 60's and 70's Harmon Killebrew hit 573 career home runs.  Nicknamed "The Killer", Harmon was actually a gentle giant.  I was blessed to meet and talk with Harmon on a couple different occasions and I was totally impressed with his kindness and very personal demeanor.  Hall of Fame inductee:  1984.

Complete - However, I would be happy to accept any of his cards in NM-Mint condition to upgrade the ones that I have.

TONY OLIVA - From childhood, Tony "O" was by far my favorite major league baseball player.  There was something about the way he dug into the batter's box and watching his smooth natural left handed swing that mesmerized me as a youth.  Tony was a Cuban born and played in the majors from 1962 to 1976.  In that time he won 3 AL batting titles and was an 8 time All-Star.  Following his playing career he went on to coach and fill other roles for the Minnesota Twins.  In 2021, the Major League Baseball recognized his accomplishments and inducted Tony (Pedro) Oliva into the Hall of Fame. Regardless of this great honor bestowed upon him Tony "O" would have always been in my Hall of Fame!  Hall of Fame inductee:  2022 - I was there!

Complete - However, I would be happy to accept any of his cards in NM-Mint condition to upgrade the ones that I have.
